After being already very successful as a Grand Prix jumping rider, he decided to change sides in 1970 and dedicated himself from then on to dressage riding. Mainly influenced by the training of the well-known dressage trainers Georg Wahl and Harry Boldt he started to train young horses towards Grand Prix. Although it was not always easy, it didn`t take too long for him to become a competitive dressage rider and trainer: In 1979 he was for the first time invited to compete at the worldfamous CHIO Aachen. There he won with the help of his horse "Metropolis" not only the Grand Prix Special in front of Harry Boldt with Lido but also the FEI freestyle competition together with Christine Stückelberger. In the following years he trained numerous horses (and riders!) all the way up to Grand Prix and was longlisted in Germany´s “B-Kader” for many years. At the 1989 World Cup final in Gothenburg he participated on Schiwago and in 1994 he won the “Rheinland” championships with Rosario. Many 1st prizes and high rankings in Grand Prix, Grand Prix Special and Grand Prix Freestyle contribute to his exceptional expertise as a successful trainer. Nowadays he devotes himself to the education of young horses and riders. |
